A HOME FOR ALL
31 JAN - 28 JUN 2026

CASA DA CERCA
Contemporary Art Centre, Almada, Portugal

A Home for All is is a collaborative project by Movana Chen that explores belonging, interconnectedness, and shared creation. Beginning with a single sheet of paper - once used for reading or navigating _ Movana cuts, shreds, and transforms it into thread, expanding the very notion of what drawing can be. At Casa da Cerca, this material transformation echoes the institution’s mission as a space for experimentation, process, and collective making.

Developed between Hong Kong and Lisbon since 2004, Chen’s practice of KNITerature weaves together books, maps, letters, and personal stories, creating sculptures that reflect the ties that connect us across culture and language.

Within the exhibiton, visitors are invited to sit, knit, and add their own stitches to the growing sculpture. Each gesture becomes part of a shared work in progess - an open, communal home shared by many hands.

” I don’t believe in ‘me’, I believe in ‘we’.

In the opening, a performance IN:Visible gesture that expands the exhibition themes: Home as a shared, living, ever-changing, co-creative body. Through breath, presence, and movenment, the performance invites a silent and invisible dialogue between performers, space and audiences.
